For over 30 tables in the FileMaker user interface on macOS, you can press the Command-F key combination with focus on the table to show the find bar. This is a control provided by Apple's frameworks and we enable it to search in the table.

You can type a text and press the return key to start the search. With the controls on the right side, you can move from one occurrence to the next or previous one. The plugin automatically scrolls to the right line and highlights the found cell.

With Command-G shortcut you can also invoke the next button to jump to the next result. At any time Command-F may bring you back to the search panel to change your search.

Search for layouts

This works fine for fields, tables, custom functions, privileges, layouts and many more tables used in FileMaker user interface including the Data Viewer. Sometimes it shows at unexpected places, where you may not know, that FileMaker uses a table control for a feature.

Search Styles

Did you know you can search styles list in FileMaker on macOS when MBS FileMaker Plugin is installed?

In the layout editor in FileMaker, click on the list of styles to set focus there. Then press command key together with the F key. The search panel shows and you can enter a search term. When you press return, the next item in the list is highlighted.
